Daria Dolgareva (born in Russia, 1991) is a portrait artist and contemporary figurative painter whose work is grounded in the Dutch Old Masters technique and reinterpreted through a modern glamour aesthetic.
With a classical art education, Daria began an independent, in-depth study of old master techniques at the age of 22. Her development was shaped by copying historical masterpieces, personal experimentation, research of artistic literature, and analysis of museum works. This rigorous foundation informs her signature synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and elegant aesthetics.
Daria works primarily in layered oil painting, employing glazing, tonal underpainting, and controlled light-shadow construction inspired by 17th-century Dutch painting. Within this historical framework, she introduces contemporary elements — fashion references, elegance, and refined glamour — creating portraits that function as a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Her contemporary figurative painting preserves historical depth while engaging present-day visual culture.
Equally significant is her pedagogical work. In 2017, she was invited to teach at a private painting school, where she contributed substantially to the development of drawing and painting skills among children and adults with physical health disabilities. As a fine art instructor, she continues to advocate for structured academic training and technical literacy in painting.
Her artistic achievements have been recognized internationally. She received an Honorable Mention in Painting at the Spanish ModPortrait IX competition and was awarded the Enchanted Living Magazine Award at the prestigious Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salon. Her paintings have been exhibited at MEAM — Museo Europeo de Arte Moderno (Barcelona, Spain) and in exhibitions of Arcadia Contemporary Gallery. Her work has been published in American Art Collector, International Artist, and Beautiful Bizarre Magazine.
Today, her paintings are held in private and public collections, including the permanent collection of MEAM, Museo Europeo de Arte Moderno (Barcelona, Spain).
